M. shabodeho@aol.com June 16, 2012, 12:34 am Published in Lebanon Daily News on June 6, 2012 Carol J. Kearney ANNVILLE Carol J. Kearney, 74, died peacefully at home Sunday, June 3, 2012. Born in Rice Lake, Wis. on March 9, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Merle and Ethel Bennett Walker and the wife of John Kearney. Carol was a graduate of Rice Lake High School and Wisconsin State University at Superior, where she met her husband. She earned her Master's Degree in Library Science from Clarion State University and served as the Director of the Annville Free Library for twelve years, from 1987-1999. She was a member and past president of the Annville Rotary Club and Assistant District Governor of Rotary International. She was active in Lebanon Valley College Auxiliary, American Association of University Women, and the Annville Home Study Group. She served on the Pennsylvania Library Association Scholarship Committee from 1989 to 1992 and, after retirement, as a trustee of the Annville Free Library. She was proud of both designing and then building both her energy efficient home and her organic vegetable garden. She loved to read and was a founding member of several book and reading clubs. Surviving in addition to her husband are Roberta J. Kearney of Bethlehem, Anthony A. Kearney of Palmyra and his wife Dawn, Brian L. Kearney of Naperville, Ill. and his wife Donna, Jeffrey R. Kearney of Downingtown and his wife Deborah, and Barbara Chaves and her husband Pedro of Fairfax, Va. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Ellen, wife of Gordon Lee of, Chetek, Wis.; and a brother, Robert, husband of Deborah Walker of Manitowoc, Wis. She was preceded in death by a son, David B. Kearney in 1978 and a brother, Arthur Walker. Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville, preceded by visitation with the family from 2:30 to 3 p.m. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be a reception in Carol's honor after the memorial service at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 125 S.
