Kerlik, 63, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, in his home after a brief illness. He was born September 23, 1948, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Andrew and Helen (Seko) Kerlik. Mr. Kerlik grew up in Swissvale, Pa., and graduated from Swissvale High School in 1966. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts in 1970 from Grove City College, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Sigma fraternity. He worked at Lebanon-based New Penn Motor Express for 39 years, starting in 1972 as a claims and safety manager and working his way up to vice-president of human resources. His career included several awards: the 1996 and 2011 United Way Award of Excellence as a positive supporter; a 1996 award for 10 years of service in the Junior Achievement program; the 1987 President's Award of the National Freight Claims and Security Council; and an award for Outstanding Service as Chairman of the Northeast Motor Carrier Claims Conference in 1979. He enjoyed playing tennis and biking, participating in races and rides for charity, along with reading, traveling, and spending time with his family. Mr. Kerlik was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and drove routinely to Steelers, Penguins, Pirates and Pitt games. He traveled the country to see other events such as the U.S. Open in tennis, Indianapolis 500, and Super Bowl XLIII. Mr. Kerlik was the beloved husband of 42 years to Linda (Chuderewicz) Kerlik, whom he married on Februay 7, 1970; father of Jennifer Kerlik-Beers and her husband, Fred of Edinboro, and Benjamin Kerlik, of Pittsburgh; and brother of John J. Zelen and his wife, Stephanie of Pittsburgh, William R. Zelen and his wife, Sheila of Tampa, Carolyn (Kerlik) Desko and her husband, Donald of Pittsburgh, Robert R. Kerlik and his wife, Paula of Greenville, and a late infant brother, Richard. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Angus and Lydia Beers; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Kreamer Funeral Home, 618 E. Main St., Annville. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Church of the Holy Spirit, 245 W. Pine St., Palmyra. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Lebanon.
