Kohr, 80, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 13, 2012 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born July 21, 1931 in Orwin, he was the son of the late Earl and Lillian (Sando) Kohr. He was married to Verona M. (Longenecker) Kohr on November 3, 1951. A Veteran of the Korean Conflict, Jack proudly served with the U.S. Air Force. He retired from WGAL-TV 8 in 1995 after 34 years of service. Following retirement, he worked as a bailiff at the Lancaster Courthouse and lastly at John Herr's Village Market in Millersville. He also volunteered at Hospice of Lancaster County. In addition to his wife of over 60 years, he will be lovingly missed by his two children: Glenn M. Kohr, husband of Carole of Annapolis, Md. and Susan M., wife of Ed Rankin of Millsboro, Del.; Jack's daughter-in-law, Cheryl A. Kohr of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie, Amanda and Kelsei; a step grandson, Jeremy; a step granddaughter, Stephanie; five step great-grandchildren, Selena, Emily, Elliot, Isabella, Xander; and a brother, Glenn E. Kohr, husband of Eunice of Salina, Kan. He was preceded in death by a son, Scott M. Kohr. Funeral Services will be held in the Worship Center, 2384 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Sam Smucker officiating. Interment will be in Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster, with Military Honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard and the Vet 21- Salute Honor Guard. Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to view at the Worship Center on Saturday between 9 and 10 a.m. The Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home, Exclusive Provider of Veterans Funeral Care, is handling the arrangements.
