Paul Kostura, 72, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest after a brief battle with cancer. Paul was born in Pottsville, on May 26, 1939, a son of the late and John and Verna (Lohin) Kostura. He was the husband of 49 years of Barbara A. (Wasilus) Kostura. He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Minersville. He was a graduate of Minersville High School and the Ford School of Business. He was a retired employee of the United States Property & Fiscal Office for 34 years at Fort Indiantown Gap and performed military service for 30 years with various units of the National Guard retiring with the 28th Division Support Command as a Chief Warrant Officer3. Paul is survived by his wife Barbara; daughters, Kimberly wife of Bernard Kuperavage of Cumbola, Kelly Milo of Pottsville; a son, Kenneth Kostura and wife Christine of Christianburg, Va.; grandchildren, Brittany, Brooke and Brianna Kuperavage, Joshua and Clare Milo and Ty David Kostura; brothers, John Kostura and wife Sylvia, Joseph Kostura and wife Judy, Eugene Kostura and wife Sandra, Emil Kostura, all of Minersville and Emery Kostura of Allentown; nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Tremont Community Band, National Guard Association, Alzheimer Chairman for NARFE Cpt 213 Pottsville, National Association of Retired Federal Employess and a long time member of the Amvets. Paul was a loving husband, Dad and grandfather who enjoyed traveling, playing his trombone and spending time with this grandchildren and family. Religious Funeral service shall be held 10 a.m. Saturday (today) at the Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., 104 S. Fourth St., Minersville. A Divine Liturgy shall be celebrated at Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Minersville, at 10:30 a.m. with Very Reverend Francis Twardzik S.D.B. officiating. Friends may call Saturday morning at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until the time of service. There shall be no visitation Friday evening. Interment Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, is entrusted with arrangements.
