Kready, 70, died peacefully surrounded by her family following a brief illness, on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. Lois, a homemaker was the loving wife of Eugene Kready and they observed their 51st wedding anniversary in July of this year. Born in Mastersonville, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Pearl Eckert. She was a member of the Mount Hope United Christian Church, Manheim and was a part of the "Mothers and Others" group of the church. Lois loved reading, and was passionate about her family; she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren throughout her life. Surviving, in addition to her husband, is a daughter, Robin L. wife of Sheldon Strause of Manheim; two sons, Barry husband of Janet Kready of Lancaster, Mark Kready of Lititz; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeremy, Brittany, Brooke, Ellie, Laken, Hunter, Autumn; and two sisters, Verna Eckert of Manheim, and Goldie Heiss of Lititz. Preceding her in death is a granddaughter, Amanda Strause; two brothers, Alfred and Stanley Eckert; and a sister, Ruth Gutshall. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Ruhl's United Methodist Cemetery, Rapho Township. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with additional viewing time on Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
