Kreiser Sr. HUMMELSTOWN Following a long and courageous battle with multiple health issues, Paul R. "Poppy" Kreiser, Sr., 76, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 at home surrounded by family and friends. Born October 2, 1935 in Clouser Hollow, Perry County, he was the son of the late Calvin and Clara (Doup) Kreiser, and was also preceded in death by his sisters: Bess "Mom" Weldon, Peg Stoner, Dot Weldon and Jean Narehood and his brothers: Jake, Carl and William Kreiser. He retired from Hotel Hershey after 30 years, where his skills as an interior and exterior painter and wallpaper hanger led to him being named Employee of the Month in April, 2001. Poppy had been an integral part of the Warwick Hotel Softball Championship Teams, and was a fan of the Phillies, Steelers and Penn State. He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and gardening; but mostly he loved spending time with his family and his four-legged babies, Missy and Foxy, and Freddie the bird. Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Shirley V. (Gruber) Kreiser; two sons, Paul R. "Sonny" (and his wife, Lauri- Anne) Kreiser, Jr., Harrisburg and Derryl E. Kreiser, Annville; his daughter, Lori A. (and her husband, Scott) Tomazin, Lebanon; three sisters, Frances Sheaffer, Virginia Turner and Joyce Hench; three brothers, Calvin Kreiser, Harold Kreiser and Raymond Weldon; four grandchildren, Nicole, Tyler, Brooks and Tanner; his "adopted" son, Dale "Tex" Umbrell; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Trefz and Bowser Funeral Home, Inc, 114 Main St., Hummelstown, followed by a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. with Pastor Ed Eifert officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Kimmel Funeral Home, Harrisburg.
