M. shabodeho@aol.com October 13, 2012, 11:11 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on September 29, 2012 PALMYRA Garman Cassel Laudermilch, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon. He was born on November 15, 1925, in Annville, to the late Elizabeth and Cassel Laudermilch. Garman was a graduate of Palmyra High School and Central Penn Business School. During World War II, he served in the Army Signal Corps, during which time he met and later married his "USO sweetheart", Gladys, to whom he was married for over 65 years. After the war, Garman returned to Palmyra and entered the meat and grocery business with his parents. In 1962, he entered into a business partnership and opened one of the largest full service supermarkets in Lebanon County, Save U Markets. Garman owned and operated Save U until 1978, during which time he felt privileged to serve and work with many wonderful people. Garman was extremely proud of his family. In addition to his wife, Gladys, he is survived by his loving sonsm Gary and his wifem Jill of Palmyram Glenn and his wifem Mary Jo of Hersheym and Greg and his wifem Cindy of Palmyra. He is also survived by his seven grandchildrenm Gary, Eric, Joie, Amy, Mark, Brianm and Jason; and one great grandsonm Cole. Over the years, Garman actively supported the Palmyra community, having owned and operated a successful business, having served as President of the Palmyra Lion's Club and the Palmyra Businessman's Association, and having served on the Consistory of United Church of Christ. He lived a full life and traveled extensively, enjoyed walking, and loved the Hershey Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, and Phillies. While the family will celebrate his life, they will sorely miss his smiling face. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 1, at 11 a.m. in Trinity United Church of Christ, 40 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
