Louser PALMYRA Russel Eugene "Red" Louser, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at The Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Pauline (Gibble) Louser. He was born Tuesday, October 14, 1924, in South Annville, to the late Harry and Elsie (Bender) Louser. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, served during WWII in the Third Infantry Division, and was awarded The Purple Heart. In 1987 Russel retired from Hershey Foods, earning his Golden 90. He was a member of the Purple Hearts, Odd Fellows, and Palmyra American Legion Post 72. Russel enjoyed puzzles, crossword puzzles, and had a passion for watching the Philadelphia Phillies. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Beverly J. Zoodie and husband, William F. of Palmyra; one stepgrandson, William J. Zoodie of Johnstown; tand wo great-grandsons, Jason and Ryan Zoodie of Johnstown. He was predeceased by three sisters, Esther Ruger, Betty Bell, and Grace Gingrich; and faithful companion, Sir Knight. Family and friends are invited for viewing on Monday, April 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Gerald Brinser officiating. A viewing will be from 1 p.m. until time of the service Tuesday. Burial with full military honors will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Annville.
