M. shabodeho@aol.com July 16, 2012, 3:21 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on July 1, 2012 HERSHEY Albert Luciani, 90, passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2012, in his home. He was born in Pemberton, N.J., the son of the late Joseph and Angelina (Filliponti) Luciani. A graduate of Hershey H.S. Class of "1941", Albert or "Tarzan", as he was known, was a four year letterman in football and a three year letterman in golf and basketball. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. Albert was employed as an electrician at the Hershey Chocolate Company and retired after 46 years of service. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed gardening, ballroom dancing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Hershey, and member and Past Grand Knight of Council #6693, Knights of Columbus, Hershey. Surviving are his two daughters, Gloria J. Herberg of Lebanon and Sister Mary Albert of Lancaster; two sons, Joseph A. Luciani of Hershey and Dennis M. Luciani of Lebanon; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; one sister, Selina Leoni of Hershey; and his close friend, Alvesta "Vae" Tancredi of Hershey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Yola (Guardiani); and two brothers, John and Peter, who was killed during World War II. Viewing will be held Monday, July 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., Route 422 and Lucy Ave., Hershey. Recitation of the rosary will begin at 5:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in his church at 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey. Interment will be in the Hershey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dominican Monastery.
