Martin, 71, entered into rest peacefully on March 21, 2012, at his residence, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Frances R. (Hoover) Martin, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. The youngest of 11 children, he was born in New Holland, the son of the late Ivan S. and Lena (Zimmerman) Martin. He was a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference and a self employed carpenter. Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, John Roy Martin of Newmanstown; eight daughters, Elaine, wife of Lowell Martin of Denver, Wilma, wife of Marvin Fox of Denver, Marie, wife of Cloyd Martin II of New Holland, Janice, wife of Jeffrey Martin of East Earl, Brenda, wife of Heath Nell of Newmanstown, Mary Jane, wife of Scott Good of Newmanstown, Bernice, wife of Linford Weaver of East Earl, and Regina, wife of Jay Martin of Denver; 38 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Amos Z. Martin of East Earl; and four sisters, Ada Z. Martin of Denver, Lena Z. Martin of New Holland, Katie Z. Nolt of Ephrata, and Esther Z. Hoover of Ephrata. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Ivan, and Aaron; and two sisters, Emma Martin and Anna Reiff. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 26 at 9 a.m. at Fairmount Homes Farm Crest Chapel, 1100 Farm Crest Dr., Ephrata with further services at 9:30 a.m. at the Weaverland Mennonite Church with the Bishop Leon S. Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Sunday at the Farm Crest Chapel from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Kindly omit flowers.
