M. shabodeho@aol.com August 9, 2012, 5:43 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on July 23, 2012 PALMYRA Ebur F. Mays, Jr., 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at his home. He was predeceased on Thursday, April 29, 2010, by his loving wife of 61 years, Jean (Wheaton) Mays. He was born Friday, August 10, 1923, in Lebanon to the late Ebur F. and Amy I. (Mann) Mays, Sr. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, served during WWII, and received numerous decorations and citations including the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. He retired from Hershey Chocolate, shipping department, after 45 years of service. He was a faithful member of Derry Presbyterian Church and Derry Seniors. He enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his family, most of all, his beloved grandchildren. He is survived by a daughter, Karen Griffin wife of Dr. David of Palmyra; a son, Brian Mays and wife Roxanne of Fleetwood; two grandchildren, Nikki and John Griffin. He was predeceased by an infant son, David Ebur Mays; two sisters, Dorothy Shively and Ruth Shearer. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 1:30 p.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, with the Rev. Dr. Richard L. Houtz officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 12:30 p.m. until time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow in Hershey Cemetery, Hershey. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Good Samaritan Hospice, Lebanon, PA.
