  BETHEL Pearl M. (Wagner) McCarthy, 80, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012, 
  at Kindred Wyomissing Transitional & Rehabilitation, Reading. She was the wife 
  of Michael J. McCarthy, Jr. with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. Born in 
  Bethel, she was a daughter to the late Horace and Margaret (Hartman) Wagner. 
  She was a member of Altalaha Lutheran Church, Rehrersburg. She graduated in 
  1953 from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing. She retired in 1994 from the 
  Lebanon VA Hospital, having previously worked for Bernville Medical Clinic and 
  the Reading Hospital. In addition to her husband, Michael, she is survived by 
  three sons, Kevin M. McCarthy, husband of Nanette of Peachtree City, Ga., 
  David A. McCarthy of Bernville, and John R. McCarthy, husband of Kathleen of 
  Bernville; a sister, Irene, wife of Charles Haag of Bethel; and two 
  grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Wagner, and a 
  sister, Laura Kauffman. Services will be private at the convenience of the 
  family. Hill Funeral Home, Rehrersburg, is in charge of arrangements.
