Miele, 80, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012, at the Lebanon Good Samaritan Hospital, surrounded by his children and friends. He was the husband of the late Colleen J. Francis Miele. Born in Mt. Pleasant, on June 26, 1931, he was the son of the late John and Catherine Perillo Miele. He retired as a MSgt. from the PA Army National Guard, where he had served for over 39 years. He was an active member of the Jonestown United Methodist Church and had made several missions trips to the Red Bird Mission and to Puerto Rico. He was a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels and for the noon meal through the Lebanon Rescue Mission. He had been active in the Civil Air Patrol and was a former member of the Duquesne Greys Color Guard. He is survived by his sons, Peter L., husband of Mary Lou Miele of Gilbert, Ariz., David D. Miele and his partner, Joseph Stitman of Pittsburgh, and Gary A., husband of Dawn Miele of Fredericksburg; daughter, LeeAnne, wife of John Rutherford of Fairfield; brothers, John Miele of N. Hollywood, Calif., and Henry Miele of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Michaelena Sirriannia of Lebanon; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Philip, Jerry, and Joseph Miele; and sisters, Katherine Napolean and Angeline Kiral. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the Jonestown United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 and Camp Meeting Road, Jonestown, and prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
