M. shabodeho@aol.com April 22, 2012, 8:15 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on April 19, 2012 Emily Morris NORRISTOWN Emily Morris, 31, originally from Lebanon, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012, at Reading Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident April 14 on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Reading. Born February 2, 1981, she was the daughter of Wilson S. Morris and Leona Ewing Morris of Lebanon. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1999 and from Dickinson College in 2003 with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology. She studied abroad in France and England and earned a master's degree in journalism, graduating magna cum laude in 2004 from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. Ms. Morris joined Montgomery Media is 2005 as a reporter and editor for the Souderton Independent and Perkasie News-Herald, during which time she was recognized with a Keystone Award in 2007 for feature writing from the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association for her story "Memories of Menlo Pool." In 2011, Ms. Morris was named Web editor at Montgomery Media while continuing to serve as managing editor for the Souderton Independent and Perkasie News- Herald. She served as an adjunct instructor at Northampton Community College and as a member of the ACPPA Community Arts Center in Norristown. Additionally, she was active in the Northeastern University School of Journalism Alumni, the Oral History Association and the Society of Professional Journalists. Her interests included animals, bicycling, quilting, bookbinding, photography, and she took great pride in keeping up to date with all aspects of digital and print publishing. Her friends will cherish their memories of her wonderful hospitality, love for conversation and willingness to take part in any charitable or creative venture. Ms. Morris is survived by her parents; a brother, Andrew W. Morris of Mount Airy; a host of loving aunts, uncles and cousins; her dog, Neo; and cats Woodward and Bernstein. Visitation will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Rohland Funeral Home Inc., 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, PA, 17042. Services will immediately follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of gifts of condolence, please send donations to the Emily Morris Memorial Fund, 209 E. High St., Lebanon, PA, 17042. Rohland Funeral Home in Lebanon is in charge of arrangements.
