"Elby" Myers, 87, went home to heaven on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Kathryn C. Rentschler Myers, and on April 12th, they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Born in Lebanon on August 7, 1924, he was the son of the late Geneva Hernley Myers. He was the owner and operator of Myers' Auto Sales in Fredericksburg, and retired in 1989. During WWII he served in the U.S. Army in the Rhineland and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Fredericksburg, and the Fredericksburg American Legion, Lions Club and Fire Co. He loved to watch the Phillies, Flyers and NASCAR, and especially enjoyed boating and camping and for over 25 years attending the Army's 8th Armored Division Reunions. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, Roger L. and his wife, Pamela Myers of Hershey; daughters, Joyce M. Myers of Fredericksburg, Peggy A. wife of Gerald Mohn of Lebanon, Beverly J. Myers of Fredericksburg and Kathy F. wife of Clint Fegan of Mechanicsburg; sister, Judith Bordic of Cedar Park, Texas; grandchildren, Jeff, Melissa, Kimberly, Kenneth, Jarrod, Andrew, Kaitlin, Ryan, Rob and Donette; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great- granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Myers. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the St. John's United Church of Christ, 141 W. Main St., Fredericksburg. Viewing will be Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 & Camp Meeting Rd., Jonestown, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
