Newswanger, 49, went to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness, on Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Hospice of Lancaster County. She was born in Ephrata to the late Milton and Lizzie (Zimmerman) Horst and was the wife of Rick L. Newswanger, they celebrated 30 years of marriage November 21st. A devoted pastor's wife and mother, Wilda was kind, patient and caring. A strong witness, which showed through to the people she encountered. She had a strong work ethic and enjoyed making beautiful flower arrangements for special events and weddings. She was always looking for a reason to smile and to share a good laugh. Wilda was very loved. In addition to her mother, Wilda is survived by three sons, Eric D., husband of Melissa N. Newswanger of Schaefferstown, Ricky J., Newswanger, at home, engaged to Tamra B. Martin, Jaden C. Newswanger, at home; three daughters, Ronda L., wife of Keith A. Martin of Lititz, Katelyn E. Newswanger, at home, Kara L. Newswanger, at home; grandchildren, Caleb, Logan and Mason Martin; six sisters, Eunice, wife of Leon Sensenig of Ephrata, Anna Mary, wife of Moses Martin of Myerstown, Marlene, wife of Edwin Martin of Stevens, Erma, wife of Edwin Zimmerman of Myerstown, Erla, wife of Glenn Rutt of Lititz, and Lena, wife of Wilmer Hoover of Ephrata. She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Charles Horst. A viewing will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2012, from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 pm, at the Hammer Creek Mennonite Church, 590 Hammer Creek Road, Lititz. On Monday, a viewing will also be held at Hammer Creek Church, 9 to 10 a.m., followed by funeral services at 10 am with Pastor Fred Heller officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery. Arrangements by Stradling Funeral Homes, Inc., Akron/Ephrata.
