Painter, age 86, of Pemberville, OH passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Otterbein Portage Valley Retirement Village, Pemberville, OH. She was born on August 15, 1926 in Fostoria, OH to David and Floy (Caskie) Painter. Rev. Painter served congregations at the Elkhart Church of the Brethren, Elkhart, IN and then at the Palmyra Church of the Brethren, Palmyra, PA for over 25 years.She was also a Science and Physical Education Teacher at McComb High School. While in Palmyra she was Pastor of Visitation, served on the Steering Committee and Ultimate Board and COBY'S (Children & Youth Services- Church of the Brethren Youth Services. After moving to Otterbein Portage Valley on February 6, 1998 she was very active at the facility. She was involved in: the Companion Program, Tutoring Program in conjunction with the elementary schools and OPV, Resident Board Member, Treasurer of Friends of OPV, volunteered at OPV and made all the birthday cards for the residents in assisted living and nursing areas for several years. Rev. Painter also tutored English Second Language through the Pemberville United Presbyterian Church, taught Sunday school at Lakewood Church of the Brethren and also worked for the Heifer Project. Rev. Eleanor Painter was survived by her sister: Virginia Wise, niece: Betsy (Kevin) Kistler, nephew: Ernest (Carol) Wise Jr., all of Tiffin, OH, great nephews: Brian (Kathy) Kistler and Brandon Kistler both of Tiffin, OH, David (Kristin) Wise of Bettesville, OH and special friend: Barbara Forbes of Pemberville, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother in law: Ernest Wise Sr. A memorial service will be held on September 29, 2012 at 2:30 PM at Otterbein Portage Valley Retirement Village Auditorium with refreshments to follow. Officiating will be Rev. Paul Myer. Arrangements are being handled by the Marsh Funeral Home, Pemberville, OH.
