    NEWMANSTOWN  Patches, 71, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at his residence. He 
    was the husband of Betty J. (Matthew) Patches, to whom he was married 52 years 
    on March 19, 2012. Born in Reading, on April 4, 1941, he was the son of Flora 
    S. (Shenk) Patches of Newmanstown and the late Arthur L. Patches. He worked as 
    a mechanic at North American Refractories, Newmanstown, for 30 years. A member 
    and past president of the F Troop Hunting Camp in Tioga Co., he was a former 
    police officer in Millcreek Twp., a former fire policeman and ambulance driver 
    with the Newmanstown Volunteer Fire Co., and enjoyed hunting and fishing. In 
    addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by daughters, Teresa, wife of 
    Dennis Ebling of Myerstown, and Kathy, wife of Davin Sheetz of Newmanstown; 
    son, Ladd, husband of Leigh Patches of Richland; five grandchildren; one great-
    granddaughter; sisters, Joyce Klopp of Newmanstown, and Joan, wife of Donald 
    Haak of Myerstown; brother, Allen "Dink", husband of Linda Patches of 
    Newmanstown; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 
    Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at 11 a.m. from the Living Stones Christian 
    Fellowship Church, 225 E. Main St., Newmanstown. Interment will be held at the 
    convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be 
    made to the American Cancer Society, Lebanon, PA .  Grose Funeral Home, 
    Myerstown, is entrusted with the arrangements.
