Kautz Peifer, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Landis Homes where she resided. She was the daughter of the late Bernard B. and Laura R. Kautz. She was employed by Stehli Silk Mill. After working about 10 years in Lancaster, the company sent her to Allentown, and later to New York City, N.Y., where she was a private corporate secretary. After nearly 40 years with the company she married a dairy farmer, Allen H. Kreider. Mr. Kreider died in 1973. Later she married Eli N. Landis and resided in Palmyra. Mr. Landis died in 1998. Several years after his death, she then married Willis Peifer. They lived happily at Landis Homes, enjoying volunteer work and socializing with their many friends. Her hobbies were traveling, cooking, flower arranging, and photography. Grace also wrote a book, "A Graceful Journey", published in 2010. Surviving are two brothers, Donald (Lois) Kautz of Leola and Harold (Esther) Kautz of Lancaster; a sister, Helen (John) Kennedy of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Verna Kautz of Manheim and Dottie Kautz of Akron; several nieces and nephews; stepsons, Elvin Kreider, Paul Kreider, Allen Kreider, Jr., Earl Kreider, John Kreider, James Landis, Robert Landis, and Larry Landis; stepdaugh- ters, Blanche Peifer Myer and Nancy Peifer Forrey; and several stepgrand- children, step-great- grandchildren, and step-great-great-grand- children. She was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Frame, and Bernard and Melvin Kautz; stepdaughter, Gloria Kreider Shelly; and stepson, Tobias Kreider. The memorial service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Mellinger Mennonite Church, 1916 Lincoln Hwy. East, Lancaster 17602. Family will greet friends from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at Mellinger's. Private interment will be in Stumptown Mennonite Cemetery. Furman Home for Funerals, Leola, is in charge of arrangements.
