Peiffer LEBANON Born on Easter Day, April 8, 1917, to the late Robert and Mary Barnhard Beck in West Lebanon, Lebanon County. On Tuesday January 31, 2012, she stepped (without walker or pain) faithfully into a nearer presence of her Lord. What a reunion that must have been with her beloved husband Paul V. Peiffer, a former Lebanon City Chief of Police. They had been apart for just over 41 years. She was Mother to Nerita E. Ward Groy of Lebanon and Barbara A. Palmer wife of Robert F. Palmer of Lititz. She was Nana to grandson, Michael A. Ward, wife Sue and great-grandchildren, Blair and Brianne Ward and Collin, Erica and Sean Backus of Raleigh, N.C., and grandson, John S. Ward, wife Barbara and great-granddaughter, Victoria of Leonardo, N.J. Daisy was predeceased by a sister, Bernice A. Beck and Betty Jane Beck Feeman. Evie went through grade school to the eight grade then went to work in a men's hosiery mill. She was a wife and mom who later worked as a clerk at Haak Bros. Department Store (you're a Plugger if you remember Haak Bros. before they had an escalator) and at Flower's Peanut Butter factory. She worked until retirement at the Cedar Crest High School cafeteria. Evelyn was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, 8th & Willow Streets, Lebanon, PA 17042. She first attended Sunday School at Salem when she was 5 years old. Services will held at Salem Lutheran Church Saturday with visitation at 10 a.m. and Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the Covenant United Methodist Cemetery at Ebenezer. Pallbearers will be Michael Ward, John Ward, Robert Palmer, William Palmer, James Cluck and Gary Hardy.
