Phillips III LEBANON Thomas G Phillips, III, died on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at his home in Lebanon surround-ed by his family. He was 80 years old. Tom was a graduate of Lebanon High School and received a BA from Franklin and Marshall College, where he was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity and the Varsity Swimming & Diving Team. Upon graduation he joined the trucking firm of New Penn Motor Express, where he rose to the position of Executive Vice President, as well as holding office with Arnold Industries. Subsequently he became Chair of Phillips Office Solutions, the largest independent office products and services provider in central Pennsylvania. An active member of the community, Tom has served on the board of directors for the Council for Public Education of Greater Harrisburg Inc., the Cornwall-Lebanon School Board, Gray's Run Club, the Lebanon Treadway Inn, and the Lebanon YMCA, as well as several traffic boards in Pennsylvania. For years he was an active volunteer for the Good Samaritan Hospital Street Fair. At Franklin & Marshall, he was a member of the Board of Trustees from 1995 - 2005. At the time of his death he was a Trustee Emeritus and a member of the College's Board of Visitors. In 2006, the Franklin and Marshall Society of Distinguished Alumni recognized Tom with it's highest honor, the Alumni Medal, and in 2009 he was bestowed with a Doctor of Humane Letters degree. He was a dedicated big game fisherman and while fishing in Panama in 2007, he was recognized by the Billfish Foundations with the coveted Black Marlin Release Champions award. Later in the same year, he won the Sportsmanship Award at Avalon's Jersey Shore Classic 'Fish for the Cure'. Devoted husband to Virginia (Arnold) Phillips for over 58 years, he was the son of the late Thomas G and Ethel Hoffman Phillips. He was father to Thomas and his wife, Denise of Lebanon, Peter and his wife, Mary of Mechanicsburg, Elizabeth Davies and her husband, Wayne of Nantucket, and David and his wife, Pam of Mechanicsburg; brother to John and his wife, Mary of Lebanon, Virginia Brandt and her husband, Barry of Manheim, and the late Mary Susan Stillwagon; and loving Grandad to Blaine, Natalie, Elizabeth, and Colin Phillips, Nicholas and Sophie Davies, and Harry and Wylie Phillips. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, from St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 600 S. 12th St., Lebanon, at 12 noon. Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of the services at the church..
