M. shabodeho@aol.com August 4, 2012, 10:09 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on July 13, 2012 MYERSTOWN Walter J. Quigley, 89, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at the home of his daughter in Lebanon. He was the husband of Betty J. (Bixler) Quigley, who died January 13, 2010. Born in Lebanon, on December 9, 1922, he was the son of the late William Henry and Edna Louise (Lutz) Quigley. He was a 1941 graduate of Lebanon High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and the Korean War. He had been employed at the #2 Forge of Bethlehem Steel, Lebanon, for 30 years, followed by working in the maintenance department of the PA Turnpike Commission for 16 years. He was a member of Zion of Iona United Methodist Church, Lebanon; Lebanon VFW Post #23; Rescue Fire Co. #4, Lebanon; Independent Fire Co., Lebanon; and a member of the 213th CA Society Battery H (National Guard). He enjoyed watching TV, reading, and watching his grandchildren play baseball. He is survived by a daughter, Deborah G., wife of Gregory W. Boger of Lebanon; son, Barry D., husband of Gloria Jean Quigley of Lebanon; sisters, Catherine "Cas" Chabitnoy of Lebanon, Jenny Michael of Lebanon, and Dottie Anderson of Virginia; six grandchildren, Julie Daullary, Jon Boger, Jared Boger, Barry D. Quigley, Jr., Melissa K. Rissinger, and Samantha B. Quigley; 10 great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Justin, Janell, Sandra, Fredrick, Tia, Tanner, Bryce, Jacob, and Chase; one great-great-granddaughter, Ava; niece, Sharon, wife of Jim Bracale of Palmyra; and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. from Zion of Iona United Methodist Church, 1920 S. 5th Ave., Lebanon. Viewing Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Church, VFW Post 23 Honor Guard, PA., Compassionate Care Hospice, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
