Rusnak SHILLINGTON Mary Rose (Anderson) Rusnak died peacefully in her sleep after praying the rosary on Thursday evening, March 15, 2012, at the age of 86. She entered into the Communion of the Saints and is now with deceased family and friends. She was born at home in Sheridan, the daughter of the late David Anderson, an immigrant from Russia, and Anna (Zidik) Anderson, an immigrant from what is now Slovakia. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 1991; brothers, Andrew and John Anderson; and sisters, Ann (Charles) Weber and Josephine (Carl) Smith. She is survived by her three sons, James J. of Shillington and Cynthia L. (Ritter) of Spring Township, Joseph J. and Patricia (Klinger) of Frackville, and David and Renee (Berg) of Virginia Beach, Va. There are nine grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mary graduated from Reading High School in 1943 and The Bryland Institute of Beauty Culture in 1944. She retired in 1989 after 33 years of employment at Western Electric, now Lucent Technologies. She then volunteered as a lunch lady at LaSalle Academy for the next 17 years. She was a member of The Polish Falcons and St. Margaret's Senior Citizens Associations, The Slovak Jednota and The Reading Works Pensioners Association (Pioneers). She loved polka dancing/polka picnics in her younger years and most recently, spending her children's inheritance playing bingo! Mom was blessed with a vibrant faith in Our Lord Jesus and prior to her fall in August 2011 was on her knees morning and evening with an always growing prayer list. Her countless "Hail, Marys" were a quiet blessing to many. She was an active member of St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church in Reading until 1968 when she moved to Shillington and joined St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church. According to her wishes Mom will be cremated and there will be no viewing. Family will receive friends and relatives from 9 to 10 a.m. at St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, 420 Holland St., Shillington 19607, on Friday, March 23, 2012, prior to the Requiem Mass celebration at 10 a.m. Final disposition of her cremains will be private and at the convenience of her family.
