Shalters, 89, formerly of Womelsdorf, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 at his daughter, Alice and son-in-law, George Merkel's residence in Robesonia, with whom he resided for over a year. He was the husband of the late Madelyn J. (Hilton) Shalters, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. Born in Womelsdorf, he was the son of the late James and Ella (Stamm) Shalters. He was an Army veteran, having served in WWII. He was the Cpl. Of the 84th infantry division and received a Bronze Star. He retired from Glen-Gery Brick Plant after 42 years. He was a member of Trinity U.C.C. in Rehrersburg. He is survived by four sons, Lawrence R., Gene L., Ronald F., and John S. Shalters; three daughters, Dianne E. Stites, Alice M. Merkel, and Randa A. Shalters; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Hill Funeral Home, Rehrersburg, with his pastor the Rev. Joseph D. Long officiating. Friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Trinity U.C.C. Cemetery, Rehrersburg.
