Shott, 90, passed away Friday, March 30, 2012, at Spang Crest Manor, Lebanon. He was the husband of Jane M. Simmers Shott, to whom he was married for 64 years. He was born in Lebanon, on November 28, 1921, a son of the late Edwin E. and Gerda Werntz Shott. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII, having served in the China Burma India Theater. He flew 107 missions as a flight radio operator over the "Hump" and received the Distinguished Flying Cross with one bronze oak leaf. He also received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with two bronze battle stars. He retired as Quality Assurance Manager for Lebanon Packaging after 42 years of service. He was a 1940 graduate of Lebanon High School. He was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, having served as a senior warden, committee person, a committeeman for the former Boy Scouts Troop 51, and volunteered at the Free Noon Meals. Joe's memberships included the Hump Pilots Association, CBI Veterans Association, and he was the Grand Marshall of the 2006 Lebanon Memorial Day Parade. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Jeffrey J. Shott and John P. Shott, both of Lebanon; grandchildren, Jeffrey B. Shott, Rachael E. Shott, and Michael P. Shott; and great-grandson, Nathaniel Blaine Shott. He was preceded in death by brothers, Ernest and Chester Shott; and sisters, Pauline Siegrist and Viola Brandt. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Joe's funeral services Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at 10 a.m. from St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 22 S. 6th St., Lebanon, with the Rev. Terrance Wible officiating. Friends will be received Tuesday beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Interment with full military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to James A. Porterfield, Ruffner-Porterfield Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, Ltd., Lebanon.
