Shuey, Jr., 83, were held Tuesday, July 17, at Best Funeral Services and Chapel in North Phoenix, Arizona. Burial with full military honors took place Wednesday, July 18, at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Ray was born in Lebanon, on January 2, 1929. After graduating from high school here, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1947 and served as an instructor for the Air Training Command. Ray first came to Luke AFB in Fall 1949. In 1951 he returned with the mobile training unit and then married Dorothy Irene at the base chapel in August. He served in the Korean War as a Technical Sergeant and was based at Naha AFB on Okinawa, for which he received an Air Force commendation and UN medal. He was honorably discharged at Oxnard AFB, California in 1954. Upon returning to Phoenix Ray worked for various manufacturing companies including Garrett Corporation in instrumentation, and in electronics for General Electric, Honeywell, and others. He retired from GenRad (General Radio) Corporation. Ray received an Associate of Arts degree from Phoenix College, and a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University around 1964.He is survived by his wife Dorothy, one son, Raymond, and two grand-daughters, Laura and Allison of metropolitan Phoenix. He is also survived by one brother, Clayton H. Shuey of Lebanon.
