Smith, 75, died Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the Palmyra Nursing Home. Born June 20, 1936 in Lebanon, he was a son of the late Hibshman and Helen (Stickler) Smith. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he earned his electrical engineering degree from HACC and worked for Klein Chocolate Co. and then M&M Mars, Elizabethtown. He was then the small business owner of a computer store in Centerville before working in the nuclear power industry and retiring from PEMA. A published poet and member of the Instrument Society of America, he was a Civil War buff, being a member of the Blue and Gray Society and even recognized for his contributions in Civil War books. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 55 years Florence L. (Uhrich) Smith; sons, Duane, husband of Shelley Smith of Elizabethtown and Bryan, husband of Laura Smith of Lebanon; daughter, Bonnie Smith, companion of Bentz Tozer, Jr. of Enola; brothers, Elwood, husband of Sue Smith and Gary Smith; sisters, Evelyn Strohm and Patricia Uhrich; grandchildren, Lindsay Smith, Jason Smith, and Ryan Smith; step grandchildren, Rachel and Jared; and two step great-grandchildren.
