Stephens, 99, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at the Lebanon Valley Home in Annville, on Tuesday, July 10, 2012. She was born to the late James and Margaret (Dwyer) McHugh, in Janesville, on October 5, 1912. Eight brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Lorraine proudly graduated from Ramey High School in 1932. She married her beloved husband, the late Paul Stephens, in 1934. He preceded her in death in 1976. They happily resided at the family homestead in Ginter, for many years. Lorraine was the matriarch of her family. She enjoyed nature, animals, gardening, singing, music, raising children, and making visitors feel welcome in her home. She will be remembered for her quiet friendliness, good attitude about life, deep religious values, and sense of humor. Lorraine was a very Irish lady with a gentle loving nature. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Lorraine is survived by two children, Marian Stephens Peck of Lebanon and William R. Stephens of London, Ontario Canada. She is also survived by five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, many friends; and her devoted calico cat, Sophie. The family wishes to express deep gratitude to all who cared for Lorraine at Hearthstone Manor in Lebanon, The Lebanon Valley Home in Annville, and Asera Care Hospice. Lorraine received good care, enjoyed participating in the activities at the facilities, and made many new friends there. A viewing will be held Sunday, July 15, 2012, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at Grose Funeral Home in Myerstown. Rosary will be said Sunday at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Mary Gate of Heaven Church in Myerstown. Interment will be in Ramey, on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
