During her final days she was accompanied by many of the extraordinary people that helped her during her all too brief, but touching life. The faculty from the Renova Center rarely left her side, and were there to comfort her as she passed. Carey was a "special child", born with severe mental retardation. With the help of countless individuals, who always went above and beyond providing an enriched life, she was able to overcome many obstacles including learning to walk, communicating, and feeding herself, much to everyone's surprise. Carey made an impact on everyone she met. Always smiling, inquisitive, and happy, she seemed to find her place in this world, and, this world is a better place for her having been here. By her indomitable spirit and humanity she made those around her better people. For that we should be thankful and take what lessons we can. Carey was preceded in death by her father, Theodore Taylor, Sr. She will be sadly missed by her surviving family: mother, Carol VanRaay; brother, Ted Taylor, Jr. and fiancee', Janice Banks; daughter, Evelyn and her husband, Geof Gibbs; as well as niece and nephews, Alex, Katie, Will, and Tyler. The family's sincere thanks go out to the staff at Renova Center for the outstanding care that she was given. She was a resident there for almost 37 years since its inception as Life Support Facility, with her mother as director in 1975. There will be a memorial service at the Chapel at Cedar Haven, with light refreshments to follow at Renova Center on Thursday, February 2, 2012, at 2 p.m. Thank you for blessing our lives Carey Published in Lebanon Daily News on January 31, 2012 This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/pafiles/ File size: 2.3 Kb
