M shabodeho@aol.com September 1, 2012, 3:14 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on August 28, 2012 MAYTOWN Russell R. White, Jr., 81, of Longwood Manor Personal Care Home, Maytown formerly of 320 S. Garfield St., Cleona, died Sunday August 26, 2012, in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. Born in Lebanon on September 7, 1930, he was the son of the late Russell R., Sr. and Mary E. Ream White. He and his father were the owners of White's Store, Cleona for 49 years. Russell then worked for Watt & Shand, downtown Lancaster in House Wares and Fine Furnishings as a Buyer and retired in 1992 from the Lancaster County Sheriff's Department. In retirement, from 1998 to the present, he became a partner with David Howell in the David W. Company. Many of his other part time jobs included; representing Claiborne Fragrances; selling for 13 different men's stores in Central Pennsylvania; and being employed as a greeter for Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, Annville. Russell was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran of Korea and also served eight years with the Marine Corp Reserves. He was a 1948 graduate of Lebanon High School and attended Elizabethtown College. He was a lifelong member of Hill Lutheran Church, Cleona, Mt. Olivet Lodge #704, F.&A.M., and the Lebanon County Historical Society. Surviving is an adopted son, David W. husband of Marilyn Howell of Mt. Joy and their two daughters, Elizabeth and Alexandra Howell; and a cousin, Jennie Steffy of Lebanon and her two daughters, Ann Najera and Susan Ledell. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. from Hill Lutheran Church, 998 N. Mill St., Lebanon, PA 17046. Interment will be held in Hill Church Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville and also on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Contributions may be made to Hill Lutheran Church in his memory.
