Wiest HERSHEY Robert Leroy Wiest, Sr., 76, passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Ruth (Dowdrick) Wiest. He was born Friday, August 16, 1935 in Ashland, to the late Roy and Cartie (Williard) Wiest. Robert was an employee of Klick Lewis from 1964 until 1980. He then worked for UPS until retirement in 2000. He also enjoyed working part-time for the Manheim Auto Auction. Robert was passionate about golfing, hunting, tinkering in his garage, and cheering on his two favorite football teams, PSU and the Eagles. He was an accomplished guitar player, playing in local bands Sunny and the Country Kings, Midnight Express and Ghost Riders. Robert loved watching his grandchildren participate in sports and other extracurricular activities. Most importantly he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Teresa Bleiler and husband, Randy of Palmyra; one son, Robert "Spike" Wiest, Jr. and wife, Savon of Palmyra; four grandsons, Jason Bleiler and wife Trisha, Matthew Bleiler and wife Kristen, Christopher, and Zachary Bleiler; two granddaughters, Amanda and Ariel Wiest; and two great-grandsons, Logan and Luke Bleiler. Family and friends are invited for viewing on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St,, Palmyra, PA 17078. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at noon at the funeral home, with viewing from 11 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
