M. shabodeho@aol.com June 30, 2012, 9:32 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on June 19, 2012 ANNVILLE Norman R. Winters, 89, died Monday, June 18, 2012 in his residence. He was the husband of Betty J. Bates Winters with whom he would have celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary this September. Born in North Annville Twp. on August 20, 1922, he was the son of the late Norman K. and Mabel V. Beck Winters. He was a retired machinist from Bethlehem Mines, Annville. Norm was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving with General Patton's 4th Armored Division at the Battle of the Bulge. He attended Christ Church United Church of Christ, Annville, was a former Cub Scout Leader and Assistant Boy Scout Leader, and a member of the Bellegrove Fire Company. He also enjoyed gardening, maintaining his orchard, doing crossword puzzles, and raising chickens. He was a wonderful husband and father who was fully committed to his sons musical development. Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons, Gary A. husband of Joyce Winters of Abingdon, Md., Curtis D. husband of Kay Winters of Elkins Park, Cedric O. husband of Dianne Winters of Annville, Duane T. husband of Betsy Winters of Annville; nine grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret J. Flowers of Florida. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jacob L. and Dale L. Winters, and a sister, Dorothy M. Hostetter. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. from Christ Church United Church of Christ, 200 S. White Oak St., Annville, 17003. Interment will be held in St. John's E.C. Church Cemetery, Steelstown, with Full Military Honors. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Contributions may be made to Christ Church or the Bellegrove Fire Company in his memory. Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, Annville, is in charge of arrangements.
