GRETNA Jack Lewis Yocklovich, 85, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at The Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the widower of Evelyn (Plasterer) Yocklovich, who passed away on July 29, 2012. Born December 1, 1926, he was son of the late John snd Ada (Perini) Yocklovich. For 21 years, Jack served in active service in the U.S. Navy, officially beginning on the date of his 18th birthday. He served during World War II in both the European and Pacific theaters. He retired from active duty in 1965 and retired from Fleet Reserve in 1974 with the rank of AOC (Chief Aviation Ordinanceman). Jack worked as a Civilian Ordinance Specialist for the Dept. of the Army at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland for 22 years. He retired in 1987. He was a member of the American Legion (Annville post), FRA, Rexmont Fire Companies and the AARP. He was an active supporter of the Mount Gretna Fire Hall and a plank owner of the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington, DC and the USS Coral Sea, CV-43. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball, football, hunting and fishing. Jack loved to travel, especially with his wife in their motor home, reading, taking care of his pug Roscoe, and making breakfast for his grandkids. Jack is survived by his sons, Steven and John Yocklovich, both of Mt. Gretna, James Yocklovich of Lebanon, and Eric (Amy) Yocklovich of Jonestown; daughter, Sheryl (Venn) Mellor of Mont Dore, New Caledonia; daughters-in-law, Kathryn Nuhfer Smith of Bensalem, Cheri Hackman Yocklovich of Denver, and Terri Peterson Yocklovich of Bedford; Brother, George (Betty) Yocklovich of Cornwall; brother-in-law, Ralph Kleinfelter of Cornwall; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Yocklovich Kleinfelter. Burial will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Lemoyne, Pa. Arrangements by Auer Cremation Services of Pennsylvania, Inc.
