Zserai, Jr, 87, entered into eternal rest with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 8, 2012, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center after suffering a stroke in February. Born in Jonestown, he was the son of the late James and Agnes Zserai. He and his beloved wife Joanne celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on February 21, 2012. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army during both WWII and Korean War. His duties included NCOIC of the motor pool while stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. After receiving an honorable discharge, Jim enjoyed several years working in the textile mills in Lancaster County and driving school bus for Manheim Township School District. His passion for cars eventually led him into self-employment, affiliated with Atlantic Richfield Corporation in the early 1960's, running service station locations on South Queen St, East King St and East Petersburg, but his primary business was located on West King and Mulberry Sts in Lancaster City, closing in 1978. Although retired from self-employment, Jim continued to work in various positions, primarily as a mechanic, until the age of 83. Jim's hobbies included deep sea fishing, pool, bowling and was an avid organic gardener. He was a past president of the Forrester's Club in Lancaster and member of the American Legion. In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, Jill, wife of Gene Willis, Springfield, Ill., Jennifer, wife of Michael Chambers, Hummelstown, Joanne, wife of Daniel Eaby, Lititz, and a son, J. Michael, husband of Joy Zserai, Elizabethtown; sisters Agnes, Margaret, Helen and Esther; nine grandchildren, Hope, Joshua, Jessica, Jonathon, Jordanna, Jared, Michael, Claire, Ruth; and one great-grandchild, Kylee. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Matthew, Frank, John and Ernest and sister, Ethel. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Evangelical Free Church of Hershey, 330 Hilltop Road, Hummelstown, PA 17036. Viewing will be from 10 until the service. Graveside services immediately following at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
