WILLIAM H. REIGERT CALLED

  William H. Reigert, of whom we made mention in our last issue as being 
seriously ill, died on Thursday evening at his home on East Main street.  As 
stated, Mr. Reichert was hurt internally on Tuesday previous to his death by 
a heavy log, which with force, struck him in the abdomen, while he and 
William Zerbe were carrying the same.  Walking backwards, Mr. Reigert tried 
to push open a gate at his home which refused to open and the jerk was 
followed by the heavy timber which struck him with such force that he could 
not continue his work.  He was removed to his home, suffering intense pain, 
and on Wednesday peritonitis set in ending his existence.  Deceased was aged 
67 years.  Surviving him is his widow one son, Claude H., of Lebanon, and a 
half-brother, John U. Galring, of Reading.
  The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon.  Services were held in the U. 
B. Church and were in charge by Rev. I Moyer Hershey, assisted by Rev. W. H. 
Oberholtzer  Interment was on Mt. Lebanon cemetery, Lebanon.  The 
pallbearers were Capt. J. H. Bassler, Henry W. Moyer, Lorenzo Blecker and 
Edward Manderbach, members of Capt. Wm. Tice Post, G. A. R. and follow 
comrades.
  Mr. Reigert was a life long resident of this place, and during the Civil 
War he served as a veteran in Co. C. 149th Regt. Penna. Volunteers, 
captained by Capt. J. H. Bassler, and known as a Bucktail regiment.  He was 
also a member of Myerstown Lodge, No. 358, I. O. O. F., Myerstown 
Encampment, No. 149 and Lebanon Valley Lodge, No. 112, Knights of Pythias.  
Politically Mr. Reigert was a staunch Democrat, and during the first term of 
Cleveland's administration, he served as postmaster of this place.
  Mrs. Reigert will vacate her home and move to her *** in Lebanon.
