DEATH OF J. VICTOR SMITH.

Well Known Young Attorney Expired Last Night.

J. Victor Smith, esq., died at the home of his father, Alderman David C. Smith, 
East Cumberland street, last night, after a prolonged illness.  Deceased was a 
young man possessing fine intellectual attainments.  He graduated from the 
Lebanon High school, after which he was engaged as a newspaper reporter in this 
city for some time.  After relinquishing this avocation he read law with Gen. J. 
P. S. Gobin and subsequently became a student in the Carlisle law school.  After 
his admission to the Lebanon county bar he soon enjoyed a good practice on 
account of his energy and close attention to the profession.

Deceased was a member of the First Reformed church and of Camp 254, P. O. S. of 
A.  Besides his father, he is survived by a sister, Miss Maud Smith, residing at 
home.  He was aged about 27 years.
