CONFINED FOR SIX WEEKS Deceased Was One of the Organizers of the Republican Party in Lebanon and Was a Man of Firm Convictions, Esteemed by All. Adam Stains, the veteran landlord and proprietor of the Lafayette hotel, Sixth and Walnut streets, died at 5:45 o'clock last evening, of liver complaint, aged 71 years. He had complained for some time and was confined to the house for six weeks. Deceased was one of the best known citizens of Lebanon and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. He was a man of firm convictions and of liberal disposition, consequently having many close friends. He was a member of the First United Evangelical church, and a member of Sedgwick Post 42, G. A. R., having served during the Rebellion as a member of Co. I, Seventy third Penns. regiment, and was chairman of the burial committee of the G. A. R. Post. Deceased helped to organize the Republican party of Lebanon county, and was always faithful to the principles of the organization. He was a charter member of the Perse fire company. By occupation he was a wheelwright and patternmaker, having learned the former with his father, the late Thomas Stains, of this city. This he followed for many years, after which he engaged in the hotel business in this city up to the time of his demise.
