Julianna, wife of Leon Kuhns, a well known and highly respected resident of
Whitehall twp., died on Friday last. Twenty-five years ago she fell down the
cellar steps at her home and fractured the thigh bone. That accident was the
foundation for a complication of diseases which terminated in her death. For
three years past her condition gradually became more serious. She was the mother
of seven children, four of whom survive, as follows: Horace, the milkman, of
Sherersville; Cosmos, the engineer at Saeger’s cement mill; Andrew, the painter,
of Sherersville, and Lizzie, the wife of Frank Diehl the milkman. Eight
grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Kuhns was 58 years, 1 month and 29 days of age.
The funeral will be held tomorrow, Thursday, with services in the Jordan
Lutheran Church, Rev, Kushner officiating. Mrs. Kuhns was well known throughout
Lehigh, Berks and Northampton counties, owing to her ability to "pow-wow" for
various ailments. It is claimed that there were very few diseases that she could
not cure. Thousands of people in this and surrounding counties claim to have
been relieved by her.
