He had been ailing for the past nine months and his death was due to a stroke of apoplexy which he sustained Saturday. Mr. Link was for many years the night watchman at Kern's planing mill and held that position until about nine months ago when he was compelled to relinquish his duties on account of failing health. He was born in Wuertmburg, Germany, and emigrated to America at that age of 15 years, locating at Philadelphia. Mr. Link was a butcher and if not in error was the first butcher in Slatington. He was a member of Samuel Kress Post, No. 284, G.A.R., and also of the Knights of Pythias, No. 294. He is survived by a wife, three sons and two daughters. The sons are: William H., John F., and James P. and the daughters are Miss Hattie, of Philadelphia and Miss Emma, of Hudsondale. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon with services in St. John's Lutheran Church, conducted by his pastor, Rev. J.S. Erb. The pallbearers were William Williams, Levi Peters, and William H. Morey of the G.A.R., and William P. Williams, William Owens and William J. Evans of the K. of P. Lodge. Interment was made in Union Cemetery. B.
