(McConnellsburg, Pa.): December 21, 1899 1899 Coal Miner Incinerated. John McMillan, a miner at the Dorrance colliery of the Lehigh Valley, met a horrible death. He was at work in the mines when his oil-soaked clothes caught fire from his lamp, and before the flames were extinguished by others who heard his cries, he was horribly burned about the head and body. He was removed to City Hospital, where he died a few minutes after being admitted. The man's body was burned almost to a crisp. He was 60 years of age and leaves a large family.
