The body of the soldier, Corporal John Genesky, 22 son of Mrs Frances Simchick Genesky, 813 North Washington ave, Wilkes barre, had not been recoverd last night. A witness to the drowning was Andrew Stetz, 34 of Wilkes barre, Rd 2, who was seated in his car attempting to dry his clothes made wet the heavy rain. Genesky was not a amember of Stestz's fishing party. Steta told the state police, neither he or other members of his party were able to go to the aid of the victim, becasue of the rapid current. The drowning occurred a short distance upstream from kimbles bridge. Stetz said the victim crossed the bridge to the opposite side of the stream, walked a short distance and then walked into the water. Genesky, made a cast and apparently lost his footing, he fell into the water, but succeeded in regainging his feet after the fast current had carried him 10 feet. The corporal again lost his balance and fell backwards into the water. He was swept downstream and he tried for 200 feet to swim to calmer water alomg the the blanks. Genesky was handicaped by his heavy clothing and unable to obtain his objective. During the struggle, he disappeared beneath the surface three times, he failed to reappeared after the third time. The search for Genesky was unsucessful and the police were forced to suspend their search for the body until the morning .
