All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Nancy Knizer knizer@aol.com October 24, 2008, 2:32 pm Times-Leader, Wilkes-Barre, PA, Friday Evening, March 30, 1934 p. 2 SUGAR NOTCH CHILD DIES FROM INJURY Three-Year-Old Boy’s Skull Fractured in Truck Mishap Injuries suffered yesterday afternoon when struck by a motor truck resulted in the death of Thomas BRADSHAW, 3, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas BADSHAW, 740 Main street, Sugar Notch, at Mercy Hospital this morning at 7:45 o’clock. The motor truck was the property of Patrick CONVERY, a coal hawler, also of Main street, Sugar Notch. It was driven by Joseph SHEDLESKI, a resident of the same street. In an effort to avoid hitting the boy Shedleski said he swerved his truck to one side and the rear end knocked the victim down. The child was rushed to the hospital where death resulted from a fractured skull. Coroner J. Emmett BRISLIN was notified and investigated the accident. The father of the child stated that in his opinion the scene of the accident was in Hanover Township as the township line joins Sugar Notch borough at that location. The township authorities have been notified. The boy is survived by his parents and a brother and sister, Thomas and Marian. Mrs. Bradshaw was before marriage Isadora MANGOLD. The funeral will be held on Monday morning from the family home. Interment will be in St. Mary’s cemetery, Hanover.
