All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Nancy Knizer knizer@aol.com October 24, 2008, 2:44 pm Times-Leader, Wilkes-Barre, PA, Friday Evening, March 30,1934 PROBE FATAL BLAST WHICH TOOK 3 LIVES Ignatz DANIELS Dies in Hospital After Two Companions in Dorrance Mine Die Instantly Death tool of yesterday’s gas explosion in the Dorrance colliery of the Lehigh Valley Coal Company, increased to three last night at 10:10 o’clock, when Ignatz DANIELS, 26, of 424 North Washington street, a rock unloader, died of burns of the head and body. Philip CONSIDINE, 32, a motor runner, of 21 West Jackson street, former Miners Mills resident, and Anthony MOLINSKI, 20 a motor conductor, of 837 North street, Luzerne, were instantly killed in the explosion that onjured[sic] four others, one of whom was Daniels. Lehigh Valley Coal Company officials today were investigating the cause of the explosion which occurred in the Hillman vein of the Dorrance colliery at a point approximately 800 feet east of Wyoming avenue, Kingston, and about 1,000 feet belonw[sic] the surface. Survivors of Daniels include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank DANIELS, and the following brothers and sisters: John, Frank, Jessie, of New York City; Walter, Josephine, Sella, Alice and Julia at home. He was a member of St. Stanislaus’ Church, North Main street. Funeral arrangements will be announced today. Funerals of CONSIDINE and MOLINSKI will be held Monday. Considine will be buried frof[sic] ris[sic] former residence at Miners Mills at 9 o’clock with a high mass of requiem at 9:30 in the Blessew[sic] Sacrament Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s cemetery at Hanover. Funeral services for MOLINSKI, who observed his twentieth birthday last month, will be held from his late home Monday morning at 8:30 o’clock, with a high mass of requiem at 9 o’clock in St. Ann’s Church, Luzerne.
