August 21, 1986 William H. Shiber, 67, of 48 McCarragher St., Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday morning in Geisinger-Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, where he had been a patient the past three days. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Feb. 27, 1919, son of the late Charles and Sadie McClusky Shiber, he was a graduate of GAR High School. For many years, Mr. Shiber owned and operated Shiber Housemoving Contracting Co. and before his retirement in 1983 was employed as a heavy equipment operator for 17 years by Foster Wheeler Corp., Mountaintop. He was a WW II veteran, serving in U.S. Army Air Corps in New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Philippines. Mr. Shiber served with the 100th bomb group and was decorated for six major engagements in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Albright United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Rizek; daughter, Mrs. James (Denise) Trevethan, Wilkes-Barre; son, Charles, Dalles; six grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Betty) Rhines, Whites Ferry. Funeral will be Saturday at 11 from the Luther M. Kniffrn Funeral Home, 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with Rev. William K. Locker, pastor of Albright United Methodist Church, and very Rev. Herbert G. Nahas, pastor of St. Mary's Antiochian Orthodox Church, officiating. Internment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Albright United Methodist Church or St. Mary's Orthodox Church.
