We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ____________________________________________________________ Will of Sarah Matilda Lutes, 1871 Will Book E, page 219, Luzerne Co., PA Know all men by these presents that I Sarah Matilda Lutes of the township of Lehman County of Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. First. I give and bequeath to my dear mother Highly Vanderlyn, a home on my estate if she chooses to stay, if not, the yearly sum of fifteen dollars during her lifetime. Second. I give and bequeath all the remainder of my property to my dear husband Daniel T. Lutes, during his lifetime; and after his death, if I leave children, I give and bequeath all my property to my dear children, their heirs and assigns forever. But if I leave no children, then I give and bequeath all my property to my dear mother (if then living) during her lifetime, and after her death to my dear sister Jane Elizabeth Ide her heirs and assigns forever. Lastly. I do appoint my dear husband Daniel T. Lutes, executor of this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal and published and declared this to be my last will and testament in the presence of the witnesses named below, this first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy. Signed Sarah Matilda Lutes Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said Sarah Matilda Lutes as and for her last will and testament in presence of us, who in her presence and in the presence of each other, and at her request have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses. Register for the probate of wills and granting letters of Administration in and for the County aforesaid personally came Munson Sigler and Matilda Sigler the subscribing witnesses to the above and foregoing last will and testament of Sarah Matilda Lutes late of Lehman Township, Luzerne County and State of Pennsylvania, deceased, who being duly sworn according to law, do say that they were present and saw and heard Sarah Matilda Lutes the testatrix, sign, seal, publish, pronounce and declare the foregoing instrument of writing as and for her last will and testament, and that at the time of so doing she was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge and belief and that they did sign their names as subscribing witnesses in the presence of each other and in the presence and at the request of the said testators.
