Guise, a retired contractor and former well known Altoona man, died at his home in Muncy, Lycoming county, on Sunday, after a brief illness. Word of his death was received by Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Martin, of 1500 Seventh avenue, who during the ten years the Guise family lived in the city were neighbors, the deceased man having resided next door, at 1502 Seventh avenue. He was 79 years old. Mr. and Mrs. Guise came here ten years ago from Williamsport and Mr. Guise took up paving work in this city, being awarded contracts for a number of jobs about the city and his work always being of a highly satisfactory nature. He was a veteran of the Civil war and was, while a resident of Altoona, very active in religious work, being a member of the Eighth Avenue Methodist Episcopal church and having a conspicuous part in the Stouch revival campaign. Following his participation in street paving work, Mr. Guise was engaged in the lumber business and operated a mill in the vicinity of the Richlands, near Wopsononock. The funeral was held at Muncy at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Wednesday Morning, January 24, 1917 1910 Altoona Ward 4, Blair County census - David P.
