It is taken from the "Montgomery Mirror" for her death on August 10, 1905. Catherine's parents were Samuel and Elizabeth Swartz of Lycoming County. Sudden Death Mrs. Jacob Olmstead died suddendly at her home in Clintonville on Thursday morning between 2 and 3 o'clock. Mrs. Olmstead had been in delicate health for a number of years. She retired on Thursday night with her daughter Annie without showing any indication of feeling any worse than usual. Annie was awakened by her mother, who complained of a pain in her arm, and went down stairs after medicine. After a short sleep, she was again awakened, and this time found her mother dying. Before she could call any of the neighbors her mother expired. The funeral will take place at 1:30 Saturday. Internment in Fairview cemetery. Deceased was born at Salladasburg July 4, 1840. She was married to Jacob Olmstead in 1867. Seven children were born, three dying in infancy. Those who survive are, here husband and Torrence of Fritz Station; Samuel and Annie of this place, and Edith of Millersburg. Mrs. Olmstead never recovered fully from the shock twenty-two years ago, when the family moved here. The eldest boy was killed by a train at the Reading depot here. She has been a member of the M.E. church past 12 years. Two brothers, Lewis and John C. Swartz of Salladasburg and Miss Jane Swartz of this place also survive. _________________________ The following is an obituary for Clara Smith Umpstead who was born in Lycoming County. She was the daughter of David Smith of Lycoming County. It is taken from the "Flint Journal" of December 11, 1941. UMPSTEAD-Clara Umpstead, age 64, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1941, at the home of son, 3236 E. Pierson Rd. Fu- neral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 13, 1941, from Groves & Co. Funeral home, by Rev. E.H. Longman officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills ceme- tery. Remains will be at the home of son, 3236 E. Pierson Rd. until 8 a.m., Saturday, then returned to the funeral home for services. Death was caused by complications. She came to Flint 26 years ago from Montgomery, Pa. Sur- viving are 3 daughters, Mrs. Albert Waf- fenschmidt of Davison. Mrs. Leland Parker of Mt. Morris. She was the daughter of Samuel Isaac and Clara Umpstead. It is from the "Flint Journal" dated May 25, 1957. WAFFENSCHMIDT-Mrs. Mary Ellen Waffenschmidt, age 58 died Friday, May 24, 1957 at Flint Osteopathic Hos- pital. Funeral services will be held from Floral Chapel at Dodds-Dumanois Funeral Home. Rev. William G. Wager officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Death followed a long illness. She was born in Montgomery, Pa., Jan. 30, 1899. She was a resi- dent of Flint for the last 28 years, com- ing from Chicago, ILL. She married Al- bert Waffenschmidt in Flint on Sept. 11, 1919. Surviving are: Husband, Albert Waffenschmidt; daughter, Mrs Roy H. Barratt, Jr., of Davison, Mich.; 5 grandchildren, 2 sisters, Mrs. Leland Parker of Flint, Mrs. Ernest Wagner of Roscommon, Mich. He was the son of Jacob Stephen and Catharine Amanda Swartz Umpstead. Samuel Isaac Umpstead, 66 years of age, died Monday, July 5, 1937, at his residence of 417 Chase Street in Flint, Mich. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 1937 by Groves & Co. Funeral Home. The Rev. L.C. Moss will be officiating. Buriel in Sunset Hills. Remains will be at Groves & Co. He was born on October 20, 1869 in Lycoming County, Pa. Surviving him are: wife, Clara Smith Umpstead; three daughters, Mrs. Albert Waffenschmidt of Flint, Mrs. Leland C. Parker of Mt.
