Burlingame, one of this section’s most dearly loved ladies, celebrated her 82nd birthday last Sunday, March 29. In honor of this unusual event, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other near relatives to the number of 15, assembled at the hospitable home of Comrade and Mrs. Burlingame at Kasson, near Smethport. The affair was in the nature of a complete and happy surprise to the recipient and the day was delightfully spent. Mrs. Burlingame received a basket of beautiful flowers and numerous other gifts to mark her 82nd natal day, which found her enjoying the best of health. At 2:30 o’clock the family assembled around the festive board which literally groaned under the assortment of viands of the delicious birthday dinner. Mrs. Burlingame was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Stark, sturdy pioneers of this section. She was married August 18, 1862 to H.L. Burlingame, a gallant soldier of the Civil War. Mr. Burlingame, who is enjoying splendid health, will observe his 83rd birthday next June. The two surviving children of this revered couple, C.H. Burlingame of Smethport and Miss Lydia Burlingame of home were present together with the following grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other near relatives: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Burlingame and son: Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Burlingame and daughter: Mrs. Anna Stark, Roy Stark and Doris Stark, Mrs. Winfield Stark; Mr. and Mrs. Chas.
