Johnson – Wakeman The marriage of Leon Johnson of Jamestown, N.Y. and Lillian Wakeman of Bradford took place at the Methodist parsonage on Thursday, December 29th, Rev. Guy Lawton officiating. Page 1. Miss Irene Houck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Houck of Zoe street Bradford was married last night to E.L. Latham of that place in Olean, N.Y., by the Rev. E.A. Matthews, pastor of the Olean Methodist church. They were attended by Miss Edra Houck and John E. Seeley. The newlyweds will reside at No. 35 York street. The groom is well known in Smethport and vicinity. He is connected with the Bradford, Rew and Smethport Motor Bus Lines. Era Jan. 1st. Page 1. The marriage of Miss Vern Justina Freeman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Freeman, to Clayton Edward Keith of Tarrytown, N.Y., was solemnized at the home of the Bride’s parents Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock, Rev. W.A. Harris of Albion, N.Y., officiated. The attendants were Miss Edna freeman of New York City and Wayne e. Keith of Brockton, Mass. The house was attractively decorated with white chrysanthemums. The ceremony was witnessed by the immediate family and a few intimate friends. The bride was becomingly attired in a three-piece suit of tan canton crepe and brown duvetyn and car?? An exquisite bouquet of Ophelia roses and swansonia. The bridesmaid wore an afternoon dress of brown canton crepe and carried killarney roses. Miss Barbara Bouton, a niece of the bride, was the ring bearer and wore a honeydew silk organdie dress. Mrs. Wilbur Flory of Bangor Pa., played Mendelsohn’s wedding march during the ceremony and following the ceremony Mrs. E.E. Bouton sang, “I Know a Lovely Garden” and “Rose in the Bud”. Following the ceremony a delicious buffet luncheon was served after which Mr. and Mrs. Keith left for a trip to Lake George after which they will be at home at Tarrytown, N.Y., where Mr. Keith teaches Spanish in the Hackles school for boys. The groom is a fine young man and a graduate of Amherst College. The bride is one of Smethport’s most charming and accomplished young women, a graduate of Drexel Institute and for several years has been head of the Domestic Science department in the Scudder school of New York City. The out of town guests were Wayne E. Keith, Boston, Mass; Miss Hazel Keith, Philadelphia; Rev. and Mrs. W.A. Friends have received cards announcing the engagement of Miss Gertrude McCarthy of Mercer, Pa., to Ernest t. Frederick of Charleston W.Va. The wedding will take place in the early spring. Miss McCarthy is the daughter of Mrs. O.H. McCarthy and formerly resided here. January 31, 1924. Page 1. Carpenter – Arnault Mr. and Mrs. Eros H. Carpenter of Larabee, Pa., announce the marriage of their daughter, Nina Lee, to Mr. John G. Arnault of Harrisburg, Pa., which took place in buffalo, N.Y., September 19, 1922. Mrs. Arnault is a graduate of Eldred High School, Class of ’22. Mr. Arnault is a graduate of the University of Chicago, and a former resident of Chicago, Ill. He was employed in government al investigation work during the World War and is now stationed at Harrisburg in the employ of the Colbert Detective Agency of New York City. After a trip including Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Rochester and other parts of New York state, the happy couple will be at home in Harrisburg, Pa. February 7, 1924. Page 1. Mr. and Mrs. B.T. Kahler of Shady Lawn, Hughesville, pa., recently entertained a number of guests at a dinner party at which time the engagement of their daughter, Sylvia Bernice to Sanford Stull Decker of Detroit, Michigan, was announced. Mr. Decker is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Decker of this place and is well known and like here. His is a State college graduate. February 21, 1924. Page 1. Novick – Jones A pretty wedding was solemnized Tuesday morning, February 19th at 7:00 o’clock a.m., at St. Elizabeth’s church when Ruth Margaret Jones, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Jones of this place became the bride of William Joseph Novick, son of William Novick of Wilkes Barre, Pa., Rev. P.J. Donahue officiating. Their attendants were Miss Jeanette Jones, sister of the bride and Edward Novick, brother of the groom. The bride made a charming picture in a gown of brown brocaded canton crepe, a hot of sand colored straw and sand colored slippers and hose. She carried a brides’ bouquet of pink and white roses and sweetpeas. The bridesmaid was tastefully attired in grey canton crepe, with a hat of grey taffeta grey squirrel choker and grey slippers and hose. She carried a bouquet of pink roses and sweetpeas. Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the bride’s home on West Main street. The dining room was decorated in a color scheme of pink and white, pink roses and smilax formed part of the decorations. Mrs. Novick has been employed in McCoy’s drug store for the past seven years where she has made many friends with her tact and courtesy. She is a young lady of much personal charm who is well known and liked here. Mr. Novick met his bride here last summer while employed here as a state trooper, which he has been for the past twelve years. Mr. and Mrs. Novick left Tuesday for a two weeks trip to buffalo and Wilkes Barre, the home of Mr. Novick, after which they will make their home at Ehensburg where Mr. Novick holds a responsible position. February 28, 1924. Page 1. Pelton – Church A pretty home wedding was solemnized Saturday evening February 23 at 8 o’clock at Farmers Valley when Marion D. Church, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Church became the bride of Ralph Bertrum Pelton, youngest sons of Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Pelton of Los Angeles, California, formerly of this place, Rev. S.? Renicks officiating. The attendants were Miss Annis Margaret church, sister of the bride and Howard Parker. The bridal party passed up the living room thru an aisle of pink ribbon s to an arch of evergreens and rose, where the ceremony was performed. Miss Alva parker rendered the wedding march and appropriate selections during the ceremony. The bride wore a charming gown of grey crepe dechens and carried pink roses; the bridesmaid wore muffin tan brocaded crepe. Following the ceremony a wedding supper was served to twenty four guests. The dining room was decorated in a color scheme of pink and white roses and lilies decorated the tables. This popular young couple are both residents of this vicinity where they are well and favorably known. Their many friends unite in wishing them much happiness for the future. Page 7. Hazelhurst: Miss Helen Barker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Barker of this place and Mr. LeRoy Edgar of Simpson, Pa., were united in marriage at the home of the bride’s parents Friday, Rev. C.M. Burnett of the M.E. church performed the ceremony. They will reside in Simpson. March 6. 1924. Page 1. Pollock – Comes At Eleven o’clock on Thursday February 28th at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. W.A. Harris of Albion, N.Y., occurred the marriage of Miss Christie Comes only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton D. comes of Smethport, Pa., to Mr. Arthur Thomas Pollock of Eldred, Pa. The attendants were Mrs. Ernese Guerdon Potter of Smethport Pa., and Mr. Ernest comes of Smethport, brother of the Bride. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W.A. Harris former pastor of the bride. Immediately after the ceremony a four course luncheon was served, the decorations were pink and white. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton D. Comes and Miss Alma E. Pollock of Eldred were present at the ceremony. After the luncheon Mr. and Mrs. Pollock left on the 12:50 train for an extended trip including Buffalo Chicago and Los Angeles, Calif. The bride is one of Smethport’s most charming and popular girls. She is a graduate of Smethport high school, and also studied at Syracuse University. She has been active in the M.E. Church, Eastern Star, Camp fire and other organizations to which she belonged. The groom is a well known Eldred man who has large oil interests near there. Following a two months bridal trips the young couple will reside near Eldred. The Miner with a host of friends extends hearty congratulations. Page 1. Dickerson – Baker A quiet wedding occurred Sunday evening, March 2d at 10:00 o’clock at the Baptist parsonage when Bernice Madeline Baker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilford Baker of Olean, became the bride of Lawrence Dickerson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Dickerson of Green St., Rev. Renicks officiating. The bride is a charming girl who has often visited here where she has made many friends. She is well like in her home town. The groom, is a well known Smethport young men, a graduate of Smethport High School. He has recently been employed in a store in Olean, at present he is assisting his father in carrying mail and freight. He is a fine young man who numbers his friends by the score. Luce of Kane and Claude Mencer of Warren were united in marriage at the Grace Methodist church in Warren Pa., on March 1st by the pastor the Rev. A.B. Smith. The couple was attended by the bride’s mother. The bride of this happy alliance for some time past has been a telephone operator in Kane for the Bell Telephone Co. The groom is employed by the Kane Poster advertising Co., in Warren and is a splendid capable young man. He is the son of Mrs. Fred Mencer of Green street. A large number of relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Field of Hazelhurst, were royally entertained Saturday evening, March 22nd at their 50th wedding anniversary which was celebrated at their home. The evening was spent in dancing and delicious refreshments were served to all present. This is the first time in 25 years that all members of the family have been together and it was an especially festive occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Field were the recipients of many beautiful and useful gifts. April 24, 1924. Page 1. Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the parsonage of the First Methodist church on Congress street, Bradford, Rev. S.A. Koen performed the ceremony which united in marriage Miss Ruth A. Pytcher of Ormsby, Pa., and Neall G. Holder, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Holder of Smethport. Miss Dora Barthlomew of Bradford was bridesmaid and Hamlin D. Redfield of Smethport was best man. The bride was attired in a handsome suit of tan Flamingo with hat to match. She wore a corsage bouquet of sanhurst roses. Mr. and Mrs. Holder left by motor on a wedding trip the destination of which was kept secret. They will reside at Tarenton, Pa., where Mr. Holder ahs a responsible position with the Heinz Pickle Company. The bride is a registered nurse well known in this city. For some time she has been located in Cleveland where many pre-nuptial entertainments were give for her. Yesterday noon preceding the wedding Mrs. L.E. Maury of Bradford entertained the nuptial party at luncheon at her house on Boylston street. Mr. Holder is a world war veteran and a young man of sterling worth, he is well known here where he lived until about a year ago when he accepted his present position. Hubbard – McCarthy Announcement has been made of the marriage in Buffalo of Mr. Dana M. Hubbard and Miss Clara McCarthy, which occurred May 6. The bride is a former well known Smethport young lady. After a honeymoon trip Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard will reside in Chicago, Ill., where the groom is employed. Page 2. Dawley – Eschrich On Monday May 8, at the Baptist parsonage, occurred the marriage of Mable Marie, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Eschrich of Wrights Corners and Cleveland L. Dawley son of Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Dawley of Sartwell, the Rev. S.A. Renicks officiating. The attendants were Miss Pauline Dawley and Walter Eschrich, sister and brother of the bride and groom. The newlyweds left for a trip to Corning and other places of interests in New York state. May 22, 1924. Page 2. The marriage of John t. Dolphin, a former resident of this city, to Miss Germaine Catherine Lyman, of Oil City will occur at St. Joseph’s church, Oil City, tomorrow. – Kane Republican, Monday. May 29, 1924. Page 1. Monday morning at ?? o’clock the home of Mr. Charles O. Johnson of East Main street, was the scene of a pretty marriage, when Lucy Margaret, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.B. Moore of Coleville, became the bride of Oscar Albert Johnson of this borough. The ceremony was solemnized by the Rev. G.P. Larson, pastor of the Port Allegany Lutheran church. The bride wore a headed gown of sand colored fibre silk with a corsage of pink roses. Ruth Moore, sister of the bride wore a gown of pink morning dew with a bouquet of yellow roses. Robt. Hul of Smethport attended the groom. Guests were limited to members of the immediate families. A delicious wedding breakfast was served at which covers were laid for 12, after which the bridal couple drove to Larabee, where they boarded the Pennsylvania railroad flyer for Philadelphia, Washington and other points. They will return the latter part of the week and take up their residence. The bride is one of Smethport’s most popular and attractive young ladies, having been a valued employe of the Clark millinery establishment for several years past. Mr. Johnson is assistant teller at the Hamlin Bank & Trust company, and is one of the town’s best known young men. Many friends will unite with this paper in extending congratulations to this happy couple. June 5, 1924. Page 5. Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Irene Scott of Smethport and Harry Kaltenbach of Mt. Jewett. The wedding took place Thursday, May 22. Miss Scott is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Scott of Marvin street and is well known here. Mr. Kaltenbach holds a position at the Mt. Jewett cannery. June 12, 1924. Page 4. Burlingame – McIntosh Announcement has been made of the wedding Friday, June 6th of Elvin Leroy Burlingame and Ethel Maud McIntosh, both well known Smethport young people. Mr. and Mrs. Burlingame will reside in Smethport, where the groom is employed as an oil well worker. Page 5. Studholme – Holbrook Word has been received here of the marriage at 8:00 yesterday morning of Margaret Holder Studholme to Robert M. Holbrook, of Cattaraugus, N.Y., at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon s. Studholme, Port Allegany. The Rev. W.E. Van Dyke of Smethport performed the ceremony. Mrs. J.A. Holder of Smethport, grandmother of the bride, was in attendance at the wedding. Immediately after the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served, after which the happy couple left for New York. The bride was tastefully attired in a navy blue twill suit and carried a bouquet of roses and lilies of the valley. After a short journey Mr. and Mrs. Holbrook will be at home in Cattaraugas, N.Y. The bride is well known in Smethport and her many friends here unite in wishing the young couple a long and happy wedded existence. June 19, 1924. Page 1. Monogan – Patterson The marriage of Mrs. Bessie Monogan of Kane and E.S. Patterson of Hazelhurst, was solemnized in Salamanca, N.Y., Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Patterson will reside in Hazelhurst. Both the bride and groom are well known in Smethport and the Democrat unites with their many friends here in extending congratulations. Page 5. Word has been received in Smethport of the marriage in Syracuse, N.Y., of Miss Josephine Elizabeth Leroy to Dr. Edward Roland Hill. Dr. and Mrs. Hill will live in Noauk, Conn. Mrs. Hill is a niece of Mrs. Laura H. Van Dusen of King street and has many friends here who unite in wishing the young couple a long and happy wedded life. June 26, 1924. Page 1. Schoch – Engstrom A pretty home wedding took place at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Reams of DuBois, Wednesday, June 19. Miss Catharine Schoch, their niece, who has been in charge of the music department of the borough schools for two years past, was united in marriage to C.Roy Engstrom who for several years has been employed as assistant commissioners’ clerk in the Court Hours. The beautiful ring ceremony was used with the Rev. R.E. Crum of the Reformed church of DuBois officiating. The Reams home was tastefully decorated, the color scheme being pink and white. The bride was beautifully attired in white satin and carried a shower bouquet of white roses and lilies of the valley. She was attended by Miss Lucille Hovis of Smethport who wore pale-green crepe de chine and carried pink roses. Little Miss Betty Schoch, a cousin of the bride, was flower girl. G.E. Engstrom of Kane, a brother of the groom, acted as best man. Before the ceremony Miss Leota Hovis sang two number, “Some Day When You Are Mine,” by O’hara and “I Love You Truly,” by Carrie Jacobs bond, and afterward Mr. Hohart Schoch played Kreisler’s Venetion Poular Song on the violin. They were accompanied at the piano by Miss Cornelia Engstrom, who also played the Wedding March by Mendelssohn. A delicious four course dinner was served after which the bride and groom left by automobile for a honeymoon. After June 28th Mr. and Mrs. Engstrom will be at their home at the corner of State and King streets. Among the numerous presents were a beautiful Kranich and Bach parlor grand piano from Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Reams. Page 1. Saturday evening, June 21st at the Methodist parsonage, Port Allegany, Rev. H.I. Chattin officiating, occurred the marriage of four popular young people, Lois Gertrude, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nourse of Smethport was united in marriage to Donald Clifton Nelson, Wrights, Pa., and Mable Ford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Ford of Port Allegany was united in marriage to Ervul Burdick. Immediately following the ceremony they left by motor for the home of Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Peterson of Eldred. After a delicious wedding supper the newlyweds left for a week’s motor trip to Chautauqua Lake, Fredonia and Canada. Mr. Nelson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. D.D. Nelson of Wrights, Pa., and is employed by the South Penn Oil Co., while Mr. Burdick is chief mechanic at the Keystone Garage, Port Allegany. Page 5. Oakley – Peterson A wedding of unusual interest was solemnized at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M.G Oakley Wednesday evening when their daughter, Florence was united in marriage to John Andrew Peterson of Mt. Jewett. Preceding the ceremony Miss Kathryn Slagle played Cadman’s “At Dawning.” At six o’clock to the strains of Lohengrin’s wedding march played by Miss Slagle, the flower girl, Margaret Johnson, cousin of the bride and the maid of honor, Miss Stella Larson, followed by the bride with her father entered the living room which was decorated with pink and white flowers. They were met by the groom and best, Axel Anderson, under an arch of ferns and flowers and the Rev. C.H. M. Whelan, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church performed the ceremony. Following the ceremony the wedding dinner was served, Mrs. John Lindholm catering. The dining room was beautifully decorated in pink and white, covers being laid for twelve at the bride’s table. The bride wore a white georgette gown and a veil of bridal illusion caught with a wreath of orange blossoms and carried a bouquet of bridal roses. The maid of honor wore a powder blue georgette gown trimmed with beige lace and carried pink roses. The flower girl was attired in rose crepe de chine and carried a basket of old fashioned flowers. The bride is one of Smethport’s popular young ladies as is shown by the pre- nuptial events given in her honor and has spent the greater portion of her life here. The groom is employed by the International Shoe Co. of Mt. Jewett and is very prominent in athletics. Mr. and Mrs. Peterson left during the evening for Buffalo and Washington D.C. and will be home to their many friends after July fourth. They will reside in Mt. Jewett. Among the out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Burt Hazzard of Bradford, Mr. and Mrs. James Anderson and Axel Anderson of Kasson, Simon Anderson and son Delbert, Mrs. Linda Peterson and daughter Elenora and Mrs. Walter Johnson of Mt. Jewett. July 10, 1924. Page 8. Eldred Eagle: Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Lemmler celebrated their golden wedding anniversary yesterday. The immediate members of the family were present to help the couple celebrate the joyous occasion. A bounteous dinner was served and a pleasant day spent by all present. Mr. and Mrs. Lemmler were presented with several gold pieces as a token of the happy event. The out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Lemmler and daughter of Smethport. July 24, 1924. Page 1. Roller – Ferman Miss Mary Roller, daughter of Mrs. Margaret Roller of Picture rocks, Pa., and Harry Ferman, son of Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Ferman of Smethport were united in marriage at the Baptist parsonage at Picture Rocks, Pa., July 9th by the Rev. W.E. Neuer. Only the immediate relatives witnessed the ceremony which was followed by a wedding dinner served at the home of Howard Roller, brother of the bride. The color scheme was pink and white. Mr. and Mrs. Ferman left for an auto trip through New York state. On their return they will make their home in Morgantown, W.Va., where the groom is employed. Page 3. Auerhaim – Drumb Bradford Sunday Herald: The marriage of Miss Lena Belle Drumb and Samuel Auerhaim, popular residents of Bradford, was solemnized by Rabbi J.B. Menkes Tuesday afternoon, at the home of the groom’s mother, Mrs. S. Auerhaim, Chautauqua place. Only immediate friends of the couple were present. Attendants were Harold Goldstein, nephew of the groom and Miss Bessie Drumb, of Machias, N.Y., niece of the bride. A wedding dinner was served and later Mr. and Mrs. Auerhaim left by motor for Buffalo where they embarked on a trip of the Great Lakes. Among those attending the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Drumb and daughter, Miss Bessie Drumb of Machias, Mr. and Mrs. Auerhaim will live in their new home on East Main street extension. July 31, 1924. Page 5. Miss Margaret Barker received the announcement of the marriage of Mr. Willis Gridley and Miss Helen G. Miller, both of Tulsa, Okla. They were married Tuesday, July 29, at the Little Church Around The Corner in New York city. Miss Miller has been the guest of Miss Barker for the past month. Page 7. Miss Lillie E. Carlson of Port Allegany and Ralph P. Nichols of Kane were married in Cleveland, Ohio, Monday, July 21, by Rev. E.W. Page 1. Randall – Brunner The marriage of Miss Bertha M. Randall and Fred J. Brunner of Buffalo, N.Y., took place at Barney Brook Farm, the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Randall, on Thursday, August 14. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Nora E. Randall of Akron, Ohio, while Richard Randall, brother of the bride acted as best man. After the ceremony, which was performed by Rev. William Van Dyke of St. Luke’s Episcopal church, Smethport, a splendid wedding dinner was served to twenty guests. Late in the afternoon the newly wedded pair left on a short wedding trip after which they will make their home at 345 Richmond avenue, Buffalo, N.Y. September 18, 1924. Page 3. Hilyer – Ripley Announcement has been received in Smethport of the marriage of Miss Sara Hilyer of Marienville, Pa., and Barry Ripley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ripley of W. Green street, this borough, which occurred in Tionesta, Pa., Wednesday, September 10. Rev. MacIver of the Presbyterian church, that place officiated. Mr. Ripley is a well known and popular resident of Smethport and the bride is a charming and accomplished young lady. Mr. and Mrs. Ripley will reside in Smethport. September 25, 1924. Page 3. Benard – Freeman Raymond C. Benard of Eldred, and Miss Ruth Freeman, of Bolivar, N.Y., were united in marriage Monday, September 15 at the First Methodist church parson age by the Rev. Charles H. Whelan. They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Ernest W. Benard. Following the ceremony a wedding dinner was served at the Grand Central Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Benard left for a trip which will include Pittsburgh and several West Virginia points and after October 1, will be at home in Eldred. October 9, 1924. Page 5. Hotchkiss – McGowan In the presence of her immediate family and (unreadable) friends, Miss Anne McGowan became the bride of Gerald Godfrey Hotchkiss of New Haven, Conn. The wedding was performed at seven o’clock Tuesday evening by the Rev. Chas. Whelan at the home of the bride’s sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Herzog. The bride was attended by Miss Ruth Farnsworth as maid of honor and Mrs. Frank Hawley Blakeslee as matron of honor, both of New Haven, Conn. Miss Farnsworth was gowned in the georgette brocaded in gold and Mrs. Blakeslee in orchid (unreadable) trimmed in ecrue Chantilly (unreadable) and violet ribbons. They both carried yellow crysantheumums. The bride was charming in a gown of white satin crepe with a bertha of Chantilly lace. Her tulle veil fell from a (unreadable) Chantilly lace adorned with orange blossoms. Her bouquet was of bride’s roses and lilies of the valley in shower effect. Mr. Hotchkiss’ best man was Frank Hawley Blakeslee of New Haven. The house was most attractively decorated with autumn leaves and quantities of cosmos and gladioli. After the ceremony there was a reception and later in the evening Mr. and Mrs. Hotchkiss left on an unannounced motor trip, Mrs. Hotchkiss travelling in a gown of black velvet hat and a blue fox fur. Mr. and Mrs. Hotchkiss will be at home to their friends at No. 150 Platt street, New Haven, Conn., after Nov. 1. Engstrom of Brockwayville. October 16, 1924. Page 5. Announcement was made last week of the marriage of Miss Mabel Larson and Earl Lyman which occurred in Little Valley, N.Y., April 6. Miss Larson has been employed for some time past as a clerk at Masser Bros. store and Mr. Lyman is the proprietor of a tire sales and repair shop, being one of Smethport’s successful and popular young business men. The many friends of this well known young couple who kept their marriage a complete secret for so long will unite in extending congratulations on this happy occasion. Page 5. Monday was the fifty-second anniversary of the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. O.T. Chase, prominent and highly esteemed Smethport residents. On Monday evening a number of friends united with this estimable couple’s children and gathered at the hospitable Chase residence on King street in honor of this auspicious event. The gathering came as a distinct surprise to the recipients and a delightful evening was spent. Mr. and Mrs. Chase were presented with gifts commemorative of the happy occasion. October 23, 1924. Page 1. Eliason – Malen Miss Marie Malen of East Smethport and Harry Eliason of Mt. Jewett were united in marriage at Jamestown, N.Y., Thursday , Oct. 16. Miss Malen has been employed by the Scott F. Redfield Publishing Co. for several years past and Mr. Eliason was at one time an employe of the local plant of the Interstate Window Glass Co. Mr. and Mrs. Eliason will make their home in Mt.
