Choate, former recorder of deeds of McKean county for a number of terms, quietly celebrated his eighty-third birthday at his home on King street Sunday. The auspicious occasion found this prominent citizen enjoying good health and the day brought many felicitations from his wide circle of friends. Mr. Choate is one of the few local survivors of the Civil War, and for years it was due to his untiring efforts that the local G.A.R. Post, once one of the largest in this section of the State, was kept alive and flourishing. The Democrat extends congratulations to Comrade Choate with the hope that he may enjoy many more similar anniversaries. September 9, 1926. Page 5. Mrs. Ralph Herzog entertained a number of young ladies at her home on West Main street last Saturday afternoon in honor of her daughter, Phyllis’ ninth birthday. October 7, 1926. Page 5. Mrs. Carried Armstrong, esteemed local lady, celebrated her 86th birthday anniversary Monday. Her host of friends will be pleased to learn that she is recovering nicely from recent injuries wherein she sustained a dislocated and broken elbow. November 4, 1926. Page 5. Mrs. James McKean, revered Smethport lady, celebrated her eighty-fifth birthday anniversary Sunday. Mrs. McKean has been an invalid for some time past and recently her condition took a pronounced turn for the worse.
